Its names come from an ancestral story dating back to the time of the Guanches, the ancient inhabitants of the Canary Islands. From Chinamada towards Punta del Hidalgo, there is a huge roque -a volcanic rock formation- which is cracked in half, called Roque de los Dos Hermanos. Legend has it that two Guanche brothers, who secretly loved each other, threw themselves into the water from the top of the roque because their love was impossible. It is said that the rock broke in two because of the sorrow it felt, thus leaving a lasting memory of an impossible love.
